RACING at the RCYC
The 2018 season
Are you ready for the sailing season? A reminder of the sailing talk this evening which will focus on:
what is planned for non-IRC racing this year
the handicap system to be used and the recent improvements to it
how to enter
how to prepare your boat for racing
how to race safely around a race course
The talk will start about 8pm, after a sailing supper, and should take about 75 minutes. The emphasis will be on interactive discussion throughout; the ethos will be to encourage members to race and to advise them on how best to achieve this. This will be aimed at those who are perhaps new to racing, but more experienced racers will be welcome in order to pass on hints and tips to the new racers.
Our sailing season starts on Thursday April 12th so be at the Club at 19.00 for 19.30 for a supper gathering for ALL members of RCYC and RNSA.
This is a joint gathering and we look forward to seeing a jolly crowd at our first event of 2018.
Details of the menu choices will be displayed on the night but the menu will consist of:
choice of two meat dishes £8.95
fish dish £8.95
vegetarian dish £7.95
Please reserve your place now – list in the bar or contact the Club 01326 312126 or 311105.
Do you fancy sailing to the Shetlands from Falmouth?
Then one of two places on Liberty Jane, a Nicholson 31, is for you. She will be leaving mid/late April, being at sea for possibly 2/3 days at a time to enable her to take 2 weeks to arrive in Lerwick. The passages could help build your RYA seatime. Currently the two aboard have sailed together on her since 2012. To find out more, please call the skipper, Michael Wright: 07768 037965; email@example.com
Easter Sunday Carvery Lunch
Don’t forget Easter Sunday for Carvery Lunch served between 12 and 2pm.

Booking is advisable – please ring 01326 311105.
A Sweet Success!
Just four of the five puddings enjoyed by diners last Friday evening. An indulgent but delicious occasion. The thirty two Club members who attended were all given certificates at the end of the evening from CODD (Commissioners of Delectable Desserts) congratulating them on giving ‘due justice to five delectable desserts in one sitting’!
