This year the Commodore’s BBQ will be on Sunday 3rd September at 1pm. Please do come along – friends and family all welcome – the list is now up in the bar or contact the office or bar staff to book your place. The BBQ will cost £15 per person to include chicken, sausage, burgers, selection of side salads and waffle cone dessert.
All profits from the event will go to the Commodore’s Charity, Blind Week Sailing. We host this event every two years (alternating with Southampton) and it is our turn again in June next year. We expect to take around 50 visually impaired sailors out on Club members yachts for a week of sailing – this is a really worthwhile cause and we hope you will give this your support and enjoy a great BBQ as well.
to our bosun, Craig and his wife, Sam, on the birth of their baby daughter this morning.
Craig is now on paternity leave for 2 weeks, Kim will be doing additional hours and we have a rota of volunteer launch drivers who have agreed to cover. Please be patient with our volunteers who have very kindly given up their time to help.
We would like to thank every one of our volunteers who helped with Falmouth Week this year – both on and off the water.
Barrie Lukey, Cliff Brown, John Fortey and Jacke Turnbull were on the finish line on our Regatta Day and just happened to be snapped by Roger Hollingsworth with his camera!
NEXT Gardening Session
Wednesday 23 August at 9.30am
A reminder that the next gardening session is Wednesday 23 August. Last time the ‘gardeners’ made a big difference to the path up the bank and we will be continuing with this work so please come along and give your support even if you can only spare an hour. Dress of the day gloves and sensible footwear and as usual if you have a few hand tools and loppers so much the better. For those who prefer there will also be some less physical jobs around the Clubhouse! See you there……
Don’t forget that we are meandering this Sunday 20th August – meet on the lawn at 10ish for a 10.15 departure. It’s the perfect melange of sailing and social.
For those who have never been meandering it works like this: turn up as skipper or crew at the Club around 10, all and any type of boat and all levels of crewing competence welcome. Bring a delicious packed lunch and something to refresh you and your shipmates, and go for a sail for a couple of hours with one of our generous skippers. Enjoy lunch in good company then do same in reverse.
Up the Creek river cruise
We have one space available if you would like to join the group of members who have already booked to go on the river cruise on Thursday 24 August – departing from Ponsharden Park and Float at 6pm. The price is £14.00 which includes a pasty. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to go.
