Specials at the Club
Falmouth Week is upon us and we hope all members, friends, family and supporters will make the most of the Club. Come aboard and enjoy the fun on the lawn, in the Club house or in the marquee, soak up the racing atmosphere, and discover the extra special Falmouth Week value we’re offering this year.
From Friday August 4th through to Saturday August 12th we’ll be selling our Falmouth Week Specials:
• pints of ale and bottles of lager for a measly £3
• a range of wines for just £15 a bottle
• small bottles of prosecco at a teeny-weeny £7.50
• a tasty range of light bites from a piffling £4.50
You can’t afford not to! Why not come by after the Red Arrows on Wednesday and round off the evening in style? On our Regatta Day, Thursday August 10th , there’ll be fantastic teas after racing, drinks will be flowing in the marquee which will be open to cater for what we hope will be a big happy crowd and there’ll be an evening BBQ , plus a live singer on the lawn to entertain everyone. Prize giving is at 6pm.
RCYC is a great venue for watching the Firework Display, scheduled for Friday August 11th at 10pm (display postponed to Saturday if weather is poor).
There’ll be a hearty breakfast buffet served daily between 8am and 10am from Friday 4th August through to Saturday 12th August.
Our bar and catering service will be available every day and all day from 8am until 10pm – normal lunch menu during the day and selection of bar snacks in the evening.
Make the most of your RCYC, as they say in Cornwall.
Finally, don’t forget to bake a cake for our Regatta day on Thursday 10th – cakes can be left in the marquee on the day from 1.30pm. Thank you!
Red Arrows Display – Wednesday 10th August
The attached drawing shows the display safety zone for the Red Arrows display on the Wednesday of Falmouth Week. At the request of the harbour office, four red pillar buoys loaned by the RCYC will be laid by our Ribs on the following coordinates:
They will assist skippers to identify the safety zone. Before the start of the display a helicopter will confirm the display area is clear of craft. If its not, presumably the display may be abandoned . It is suggested spectator craft should be to the land side of the display area.
A thank you to all members for your cooperation.

What could be better than a Sunday meander?
Thursday is of course the normal day for meandering, but that doesn’t always suit all Club members so we are planning a meander on a Sunday. Shock horror! Put the date in the diary, Sunday August 20th, meet on the lawn at 10ish for a 10 15 departure, and let’s see if we can get more of you meandering. It’s the perfect melange of sailing and social.
For those who have never been meandering it works like this: turn up as skipper or crew at the Club around 10, all and any type of boat and all levels of crewing competence welcome. Bring a delicious packed lunch and something to refresh you and your shipmates, and go for a sail for a couple of hours with one of our generous skippers. Enjoy lunch in good company anchored in a romantic cove. Then do same in reverse, back at Club circa 4 pm. The only thing we try not to do is make it too much of a commitment on either side – there may be boats and there may be crew, but there may not be! If the fancy takes you do come along on Sunday August 20th and see who else turns up!
Celtikup Race 2017
We were delighted to welcome back the French sailors who were taking part in the annual Celtikup Race from Lorient-Douarnenez-Falmouth-Lorient. The image above shows the start of the race back to Lorient on Thursday and the pictures below are from the prizegiving and BBQ held in our marquee on Wednesday evening. The miserable weather outside did not dampen the fun and it was a great evening! We look forward to their return visit in August 2018. Maybe next year some of our crew might like to join them on their return journey?
Thank you to Roger Hollingsworth for the pictures.
