WANTED! VOLUNTEERS TO GO BEHIND BARS
We are looking for Members who could do some time at busy periods during Falmouth Week by serving a limited number of drinks from behind bars we’re going to set up in the marquee. These will be simple cash only transactions so no training on a till is necessary. The idea is to both to relieve pressure on the bar in the Clubhouse and ensure we turn over as much drink business as we can. The busy times will be 4 – 8 pm on Wednesday 9th and, particularly, our Regatta day, Thursday 10th August.
If any Members fancy doing a stretch could they kindly be in contact with Hugh Kellett on 07850 615322 or firstname.lastname@example.org We will need 3 or 4 volunteers per evening and your Club would very much appreciate your help.

IRC Challenge Cup
A beautiful warm and sunny day greeted competitors for the IRC challenge cup regatta hosted by the RCYC on Saturday 8th July and sponsored by Ancasta with prizes kindly donated by Jaegermeister. Conditions were light and variable with the race committee doing well to get three races completed on windward leeward courses thanks to Chris Davis and team. A total of 9 boats entered in 2 classes. Class 2 IRC consisted of 3 hot half tonners, Miss Whiplash, Rampage and Scorpion using the event as a warm up for the 1/2 ton classics cup and ‘Encore’ David Cunliffes competitive laser 28. The light conditions suited the 1/2 tonners and Miss Whiplash was the winner in all races being pushed hard by Rampage in races 2 and 3 and Scorpion taking the last spot on the podium.
Class 1 had 5 entries consisting of Stuart Sawyers new J122 ‘Black Dog’, Damien and Christine Bloors competitive Beneteau 36.7 ‘Daring’, Craig Brown and Duncan Adams Viper 640 back from the Europeans in Garda, Bob Warren and Gilly Fox in their infamous J39 Jackdaw and Tim Cunliffes modified Farr 30 Insatiable.
Race 1 was won by Black Dog with Insatiable 2nd and Daring 3rd. Race 2 was won by Insatiable with Daring 2nd and Black Dog 3rd. In the final race Black Dog won with Insatiable 2nd and Vindscreen Viper 3rd. This meant that Black Dog and Insatiable were tied on points, with Black Dog being the eventual winner of Class 1 on count back.
The competitors returned to the club where after racing a barrel of beer was enjoyed, kindly provided by Simon Boote of Ancasta before the prizegiving.
The day was so successful that a second IRC one day regatta is now scheduled for Sunday 17th September.
