Carrs Land Rover Flying Fifteen UK National Championships
The Flying Fifteen UK National Championships are coming to Falmouth this year for the first time in over a decade, and the RCYC is organising the event. The regatta will take place over four days in late September with the fleet being dry sailed from the Water Sports Centre.
The title sponsors of the event are CARRS Land Rover (www.carrs.truro.landrover.co.uk), and we would like to thank them for their generous support, please visit their website to show your support. Other sponsors are ZHIK clothing, Craft Cover Marine Insurance.
Tre-Concepts are sponsoring the GPS live coverage of the racing. This is an exciting and new technical addition to the UK National Championships where a GPS tracker is fitted to every competitors boat allowing the position of the individual boats in the racing to be seen live on screen.
The RCYC will be hosting all the social events at the clubhouse and is always looking for your support, whether it is as a volunteer helping with the event or as a financial supporter, bringing with it all the benefits of an official sponsor.
The local fleet of Flying Fifteens has been growing over the last three to four years and numbers are increasing every year, with Abi Rickard & Nick Woodley spearheading the fleet growth by starting up POFFFA, the local Association.
Last Sunday’s junior sailing session was great with a good number of youngsters out enjoying the water. The next session is on Sunday 16th July and further dates are listed below. It would be really helpful if those planning on attending could let Melody know at email@example.com which will help us to plan sessions more effectively as well as being able to inform people of any cancellations due to the weather. Please ensure children are there in good time and changed ready to start at the times specified below. We do have wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets for children to borrow but, if anyone does have their own, it may be worth them bringing them along. The dates are:
Sun 16th – 10am-12pm
Sun 30th – 10am-12pm August
Sat 5th – 15:30-17:30pm
Sun 20th – 15:30-17:30pm September

Gardening at the Club
Wednesday 19 July at 9.30am
The next session for Gardening is fast approaching. Please put the date in your diaries. The ‘regular team’ have been a little thin on the ground for the last couple of sessions and we would really like to get to grips with vegetation on the bank. Lots of you will be thinking of boating and holidays at this time of year but please come along for just an hour or so to help us. As usual dress of the day is sensible footwear and gloves and a few hand tools and loppers if you have them! Coffee will be provided. Any queries in the meantime please contact Rachel 01326 212185.
IMPORTANT DATE FOR YOUR DIARIES
The Summer Solstice has only just passed but the Social Committee are already planning hard for the autumn and yes – Christmas too! The date this year of the Annual Dinner Dance will be Friday 1st December and will be held at the Royal Duchy Hotel. This year it will be a masked party with prizes for the best masks. So put on your thinking caps and watch this space for more detail. And don’t forget to put this important date in your diaries too.
