Club Racing report
Series 1 Race 1
Friday evening saw the first Royal Cornwall evening race of the season. The sun shone brightly and the wind was 6 mph from an average of 155 degrees. The committee boat, Noon Hi was loaned by Jack Penty.
I decided to give all 3 classes the same course with the intention of shortening as appropriate. The course was Castle, Vilt, Castle, Rustler yachts, FBC and finish.
Class 1 IRC fielded 2 boats – Daring and Juno.
Both made an impressive start at the pin 1 second after the gun. They were finished at Falmouth Boat Construction mark with Daring winning both on the water and on corrected time after a close race.
IRC11 had 6 entries and with the slowly fading wind, was shortened on rounding Castle for the second time. Excelle was first on the water. Three Flying Fifteens came to the line and with the dying breeze affecting them more, they were finished at Vilt with Nick Woodley comfortably in the lead.
By this time it was getting quite chilly and it was good to get back to the warmth of the Club and a wonderful welcome supper provided by the Club Chef!

AGM – Thursday 20 April
We hope to see as many of you as possible at the AGM on the evening of the 20th April at 6.30pm in the Marquee. Supper will be served in the Clubhouse when the meeting has finished and it would be appreciated if you could place your order with the bar staff on arrival. Please be advised that the normal ‘50% off Specials’ will not apply this evening.
RCYC and RNSA Meet at Fowey 29/30 May
Our traditional and always popular first meet is at Fowey over the first May Bank Holiday. I have booked a reserve pontoon but as there are a number of other meets at Fowey over that weekend we do not know which one it will be yet.
I have asked for the pontoon to be designated from the Friday for those of you planning on arriving early.
On Saturday we shall have a pre-dinner pontoon party – weather permitting. I have then arranged for us to dine ashore at Fowey Gallants at 1930. Menu attached here – please let me have your choices asap. We will not commit until the Wednesday before when hopefully we will have a good idea of the weather but I need your choices and the numbers attending well before then please.
Any cancellations after we have committed on the Wednesday may have to pay for their ordered dinner. There is very little scope for ‘drop ins’ so if you don’t book your meal then you may not get fed if you just turn up.
Numbers intending to go and menu choices asap please. Thank you!
Has anyone mistakenly picked up the bosun’s lifejacket which is normally stored in the bosun’s shed? If so, please return asap.

Thursday 24 August at 1800hrs
It may seem a long way off but the trips to those parts of the Fal Estuary that other boat trips don’t reach are very popular and usually oversubscribed. We have secured 30 spaces for the evening of 24 August for the Club but these are only being held for us until the end of May and so far we only have a few names on the list. The trip will depart the Park and Float Ponsharden and parking is free. Tickets are priced at just £14 for the evening, including a pasty and the trip lasts about 3 hours. Add your name to the list before it is too late! These lovely images below were taken last year.
