Samara

In the recent, very strong winds, a number of yachts sustained some damage while on their moorings. The following is the content of an email from member David Wright.

I don't know if it is possible to thank you and other members of the Club, through the Clubs website, who helped secure and minimise the damage to my yacht SAMARA when it was cast adrift by the ketch Maria Joanna and was cast down onto the RCYC wall.

As it will be recalled the wind was blowing at 30/35 knots on Thursday 17th April 2008 when the ketch Maria Joanna started to drag its moorings. Apparently something failed later with her mooring and she floated free. After hitting a couple of other yachts she laid alongside SAMARA causing extensive damage, then finally cutting through my strop and, the rest is history!

The Harbour Master' whilst not accepting blame, has requested I submit two estimates for repairs to him. The help given by some members has possibly made the difference between total loss and a possible repair.

Again many thanks to all those involved.

Yours sincerely

David J Wright
